Freedom Fall

Freedom Fall

What was it in the winter winds,
That brought back a plethora of memories,
Peering through the fog,
Was a reflection from the past.

All I could see was a ghost,
Ready and waiting for me,
Looking through my soul,
As if he is checking my strength.

Slowly the mist covered my mind,
Unleashing the deepest fears hidden in my mind,
Reminding me of who I was,
And what I have now become.

From the man who had never given up,
To a mere cadaver of my failures,
Yet I stand proud of who I am,
And the laurels that I have accomplished.

There was someone,
Who entered my life,
Breaking me beyond repair,
Denting my soul and mind.

She was just a tormentor,
Who had a sole purpose of making me well up,
To my feelings and hand her my heart on a silver platter,
Only for me to later on repent on my decision.

Just as she vanished from my life,
Taking away a part of my soul,
Suffocating me in the pit of my emotions,
Leaving me for the dead.

That whole winter,
My soul was hibernating,
Dreaming about the memories we shared,
The stolen kisses beneath the starry skies.

It has been a long time,
Since I lost myself in the whirlpool of emotions,
After years of travelling on the scorched earth,
I sit today watching the winter fall down,
And with the ghost of my past I see my breath go down,
A freedom too long for which I waited.
A freedom too late for my soul.

Ice Princess

Ice Princess

Almost like everything she did,
There was something that ticked her off,
From a soul that was the life of the party,
She became just another face in the crowd.

Never had anyone seen a girl like her,
A voice which could send chills down the spine,
With a heart of gold waiting that defined her character,
Searching on a lonely path for a companion to help her reach her destination.

It used to be a world of sorrows and pain,
While she used to live in a world of her own,
There was a soul that was mesmerised by her,
But always kept her at a distance.

He would just be around her without her knowing his presence,
Like a ghost he used to be present in the crowd,
Waiting for her to notice him,
And then walk down the path alongside her.

Yet something was just not right,
The air around her was reeking of death,
From a chirpy nightingale,
She was now just a raven of death.

All he could now do was worry about her,
and think if she was worth him.
When the world had left her to be on her own,
Masks of the people changing to show her the reality of the world.

Never has life been so unfair to him,
Like that day,
When his every ounce of flesh that he had sacrificed,
To keep her in the light of life.

Yet the Devil took the best of him,
From the lines of the white powdery hell,
He had held her by her beautiful wrists,
And just with one swift flow,
He had left a mark on them forever.

As the blood starts to flow from her veins,
The pearl white floor becomes red,
With life fading from her eyes,
All he could say was goodbye.

Dream On

Dream On

While the world was crying over lost souls,
Bombs setting off in every place,
Buried in the rubble,
Were not a hundred corpses but a hundred dreams and hope.

Down in the basement of his half broken home,
Brushing past the jagged edges of what seemed to be a cabinet,

He takes out his diary and suitcase,
Fleeing from the very idea of survival in this ghost town.

On the other side of the planet,
There was a house in the green prairie fields,
With a patio gazing at the beautiful sunrise,
Woke up a face which was like a flower after the first monsoon rain.

She was like a girl that was described in a Nicholas Sparks novel,
One smile from her would make the whole world spellbound to her,
She never was beautiful but there was something about her that mystified people,
Only waiting for a moment to cast her magic upon someone.

Just when he had lost faith in human emotions,
He had to stumble by her doorway,
As if god had forgiven him,
For the sins that he was being punished for.

From the ruins of the tormentors,
To the city of angels,
He had travelled a thousand miles,
To be awestruck by the angel waiting by the door.

From a few days to eternity,
They had decided to spend it together,
From broken dreams to destroyed soul,
She had brought him back hope and life,
And he had to just dream on.

Destiny

Destiny

Often we have heard,
People saying it was destiny's choice,
Whenever something happened,
Not knowing the reason why it happened.

What if destiny was never your friend,
Just for a second you just look back at your life again,
Wondering if everything you had done was just a part of a big plan,
Or if you were just a part of an even bigger act.

I never believed in destiny,
Never did I believe in it till I encountered you,
Funny isn't it?
The one thing that you never believed your entire life,
Is the one that makes you think about life in a new light.

I always was a fan of timing,
Fantasised about the very concept,
About how we humans were so dedicated to the imaginary image of good,
And how we were just blinded by our faith in it.

She was just like the midsummer moonlight breeze,
Cool and pleasing for everyone to fall for her,
Those eyes which were just like peals lost in the depths of the ocean,
Just saw through my soul and in a heartbeat won me over.

Gradual meetings just became the moment of the day when I felt alive,
Was this what people called destiny or was it just a coincidence,
Never could I figure it out,
Only thing being that the more time I spent with her.

The more slavish I was to her contagious smile,
Leaving me deep in love,
With you being the one thing which now completes me,
Driving my soul forward just to make you proud of me.

I always was a fan of timing and not destiny,
But ever since she came,
This unsolvable enigma life,
Seems to have unravelled to me.

One of the most misunderstood souls,
Might be destined to be with her,
Strange it is about life,
That when you have rescinded your faith in something,
It finds a medium to reinstate your faith back into it.

Redemption

Redemption

As he lit his final cigarette from his box,
He stood near the balcony,
Looking as far as his eyes could see,
Trying to fend off his mind from the ghost of his past.

With each puff that he let go,
It seemed like a load off his shoulder,
Trying to see past the smoke into his fate,
Just trying hard to undo a mistake that made him this way.

With a heart as big as the Grand Canyon,
All he wanted to do was to keep the people that mattered happy,
Not knowing what would it cost him,
Or even if the people were worth it.

Just when he thought he had everything sorted,
His life went down a downward spiral,
Never could he have believed,
That his soul could have been bought.

One small mistake did put him through a lot of trouble,
With his heart ripped out from his soul,
As per the deal that he had made
Searching the land for a shelter.

Lucifer had done well to train his minions,
Preparing them to be his agents of mischief,
And us humans to be his victims,
Selling our souls for the worldly pleasures.

I did the same with her,
Trying hard to make myself a part of her life,
Playing whatever card was possible to get a chance to spend some time with her,
Only to realise that he had to rat out his friend.

So was her charm that he had done whatever she asked,
From the sacred secrets to the facts that no one knew,
He was his friends aide only to turn into the first hammer strike that knocked him down,
Worried of what he had done,

Trying hard to undo his mistake,
Only to see that there is no going back,
With a crumbled sou of his dreams and desires in his hand,
A tear was the only thing that he could shed.

When everything else failed,
He met a person who was lost,
In the very maze of life,
Just as it seemed a sign to redeem himself.

As he today becomes the a man greater than me,
I sit at the backseat,
Just waiting for them to see me through,
To see the road to redemption I had to go through.

As I today stand in the balcony,
Smoking my last cigarette,
Thinking about the things I had to go through,
To buy my soul back from Lucifer.

If I Could Read Your Mind

If I Could Read Your Mind

A silent night with nothing but the moon beaming right upon us,
Holding you from behind and gazing the starry night sky,
Wondering about how my life would have turned out,
If I would have never crashed into you.

Just like a Nightingale singing in the forest,
I could hear you from my apartment,
Only to my surprise,
To see you looking at me.

From awkward glances to casual hellos,
Our fate was entwined with each other,
To cross paths whenever any of us failed,
To pick ourselves together and to fall in love.

As today I hold you in my arms,
Only to be lost in the seas of your eyes,
Wishing if I could read your mind,
Just to read your thoughts and relive the tales behind them together.

Like a maniac stranded in sea for survival,
Trying hard to find a shore to live on,
Searching from horizon to horizon,
Just to reach a place where he could die.

If I could read your mind, love,
Would you have made me a part of your life,
And never leave me to be like a ghost,
Cursed to live in world without everything it loves.

With you caressing my hair,
Looking at me intently,
Assuring me that everything I worry about is gone,
Lost in a time before us.

Brushing my lips with hers,
Putting the last piece of the puzzle,
Which was the picture of my life,
She was an artist and I was her canvas.

The Long Goodbye

The Long Goodbye

The table in front of him was trashed,
With papers and files laying around,
With the dustbin with burning papers,
Sat there a man kneeling down.

Wondering where did he get wrong,
From the star performer to the star failure,
A journey from the top of the mountain,
To the depth to ocean,

He did whatever was right for the job,
Sacrificing his life for the world full of paper towers and pen stacks,
Breaking down every point of limitations
Only to find a way to excel in his art.

He did everything to provide her a life of satisfaction,
A life of no complaints,
For him she completed him,
The only fault of his was that he forgot her.

While trying to make himself,
He forgot the main thing that made him who he was,
It was not the stack of money in his bank or the expensive ride outside his house,
It was nothing but her.

She was the only one who had his back,
Only to be realised that it was only one person in that relationship,
She tried to be with him,
Reason with him destroying his world of myths and workaholic lifestyle.

Denting his life into a million pieces,
Trying to rebuild his life but it was just a menace,
Only to find him to be a brittle soul,
And she was not the glue to hold them together.

Just what they thought was a mere cadaver,
And a worthless effort to resuscitate it,
She left him to be better only to see him fall,
From the world of heaven he fell to the scorched land of hell.

Only to see the world around him collide,
And crumble down to their very foundations,
Then he found a letter from her,
Only to say him a long goodbye.
